You need to use Media Manager to create an offline sequence in the ProRes codec.
Consult the Help menu for more details. -
Make sure you are using this version of the Avid codec

There are many versions on the Avid website and its poorly labeled and organized.
This is the correct one for an Intel Mac.

Oh boy. The only answers are non-acceptable. The only way to do this via the Kona is through the Kona Desktop function. You CAN display a video preview out of Photoshop via Firewire, as Photoshop CS has that capability built in. The video preview feature of Photoshop does not support cards however, only firewire.
Guess I am a dead man.

Its easier in Compressor 3, because there is a preset for it, but you can also do it in Compressor 2.
In the Extras tab of the Inspector, select Multiplexed MPEG1 layer 2 audio

Jerry already told you how to do it. Go into the Inspector tab and select to create a Transport stream, which is an MPEG file with interleaved audio.

Once you set it up, which should take less than a minute, all you have to do is export a reference movie from FCP, then drag and drop to it. You can continue to work in FCP while it runs.
Ignoring Compressor is a big mistake. Its a very powerful too.

Make a droplet with Compressor….then you will be able to export a reference movie, then drag/drop to it. -

I forgot and tried to do this on an Avid recently….of course nothing happened….then I said “Oh Duh. Of course!”
