Can you play the vid/audio out of the camera and see if it drifts out of sync? Or is it only in your edit system that it loses sync?

If you are looking for a great camera that is a step up from what you have now, but can be had for a good price, I would recommend the Sony FS100. Get the Meabones Canon EOS adapter, not the light boost. (limits the lenses you can use).
I have had one for about 5 yrs, a great workhorse with the ability to get “Cinematic images”. Having said that, I also have the Black Magic cinema 4K, and the Ursa will arrive tomorrow ( the big not the mini ). I have gotten all my cameras off Ebay, even the $25K DVCam I got almost 20 Yrs ago. Look at the FS100, small light weight, AVCHD is a good format for space saving. Files are not to huge.

by a guy named Cody Cha, a lot of his stuff is with the FS100. He has probably moved on to something better, but you can see how good this camera can be. Black Magic 4K cinema camera is strange and a little unpredictable, I don’t use it so much so I might not be all the used to it. I anricipate a bit of a learnign curve with the Ursa as well.

Please explain why splitter for audio can be an issue,I recently had an issue with my black magic camera. the problem was a sudden lack of level when using direct mic in. The camera had been working great, I was feeding the BMC and an FS 100 using an XLR splitter. worked fine. after a second set up, the bmc audio was super low. and stayed problematic on my next shoot using the BMC alone, no splitter involved. Was my original issue related to the splitter? I think the camera was suffering from some phase canceling issue which resolved itself. while testing I sent 1K line level tone to the camera set at line, and it worked fine, mic level has been fine since then also. so problem fixed for now.

I just dragged out my mixer, and sent the camera 1K tone at Line level and the camera responded perfectly at the line in setting.
Set the camera and the mixer to mic level and the camera is working fine at mic level.
Disconnected the mixer, and sent the camera direct mic in ( bat powered mic ) at mic level and now it works flawlessly in all settings.
So i guess the problem is fixed for now.
I know you may be tempted to feel that it was operator error, but I assure you I have been doing this for a long time.
The camera did have an issue. I don’t know if sending it a line level signal did something to the internal switching, but it works fine now.

I had been pleasantly surprised at the good quality I was getting from firmware 2.4. Both line in, with an external mixer, and direct mic in were working great. Today however, the direct mic in, has super low level
I have no idea why. In the past it was perfect with the exact same set up. Now I can not get a decent signal even with the mic-in level at 100% and the hiss is incredible.
I think I have some kind of pre-amp fail.

I go out of my way to have my stereo audio import as A1, A2, mono. This is what i am used to with FCP.
In Edit Preferences, there is a way to control how your audio imports. You want to make sure the part relating to “Stereo Media” is not mono. This only is relevant to future imports.

I downloaded and updated, the frame guide option is now working. I did not get the option to delete the old firmware.

I am in the same boat, Just got used BMC 4K. Came here looking for frame guide help. First post was about the issue. Question is, how can you tell which firmware you are on?
