  • I use file scavenger when I format a storage device with something on it.

You may be able to download file scavenger to scan your sd card before purchasing it. It should tell you if there are any recoverable files on it.

That looks like it needs to go in for repair.

Assuming you have cleaned the lens, there is nothing in the settings that would cause that.

You can send it to Sony, where it is a flat fee of something like $800 no matter what it is.

Or, where I have been sending cameras this past year is a mom and pop repair shop that specializes in Sony cameras and is knowledgable and very helpful.

You will be able to talk with a real tech and show them the picture and get an opinion probably before you send it in.

    That doesn’t sound good.

First, try pressing the reset button on top with a paperclip.

Second Check in the manual what the blinking pattern indicates.

Alternatively call sony tech support and ask them what the code means.

    Ken,

The description sounds like the content browser is not doing the correct thing.

The files as stored on the memory are indeed, as you describe. The import mechanism should give you files that are joined, and whose name is the yearmonthdatehourminsecond.m2ts format. Where the time that clip started was the name of the file.

I suspect one of your content browser settings isn’t correct.

So option 1 is to play with different settings on content browser.

I still use the older sony software called Content Management Utility. It has less features, but came out first and is less confusing.

So option 2 is that You can download a copy from the sony creative software website. When you first run the program you have to connect your camera via usb to license it.

Option 3 is that recently, I believe, ( I don’t use Adobe premiere, ) that the newer versions correctly import directly from the camera card as long as you leave everything on the file structure the way it was on the card. It uses the metadata from the other files to convert and bridge those few seconds of sound. So try that.

This forum has been invaluable in solving problems.

Sony’s open a trouble ticket and a week later they ask a dumb question answer then a week another dumb question support has been worthless.

For those of us who’s living depends on things working, and have to deal with all types of file types and customers, I would like to see an option for paid support.

I don’t mind paying an annual fee in order that when I am really stuck, they can remote login to my machine, and either walk me through something, or report a bug internally and give a workaround.

    DVD architect.

Assuming that the Magix folks are going to continue with DVD architect, it needs to be able to produce 4K Blurays.

  • I have been running Sony vegas pro 13 on a windows server 12 for years and it works.

I use remote access to access it from my desktop pc. I can remote it from out of the office and start and check on rendering jobs.

I get that problem too. Usually when I have incorporated customer provided video with my video.

I find that if I pre-transcode the customer video, which is usually a different pixel or bit rate into the same as my project, it goes smoother.

Also, preconvert the audio into 48k sample wave instead of 44k wave or ac3 fixes it.

Well, I will tell you compared to the NX5U.

    1. It has the exact same chassis. Same layout, ergonomics, etc. Viewfinder, etc.
    2. It has a zoom ratio of about 13 to 1 compared to 20 to 1 with NX5. This comes from reducing the maximum zoom. So the wide angle is the same, but it doesn’t zoom as much as the 5.
    3. It has a 1 inch sensor, verses the NX5 1/3 inch. So the Bokeh should be better. I tried to see that in the booth, but really since I didn’t have the nx5 with me, it is hard to compare this particular item.
    4. It records to regular SD cards, same as nx5
    5. Low light seemed about the same, but I couldn’t compare it.
    6. It does have face detection, which nx5u did not have, so this is a big improvement.

So, it is a compromise of sort. I predict it will be as durable as the nx5u.

Where did you even find Sony Catalyst?

Did they have a booth that I missed?
