I have been using that software utility all this time that I have had this problem.
Actually, I tried bypassing the utility, but that didn’t help it.
I am operating the pd170 in dvcam mode.

Get the camera back to sony for repair right away.
There is something seriously wrong. If you are out of warranty by a little bit, explain why they should still fix it.
I had one that had a similar, not the same, problem. It turned out to be the focus servo motor was going in and out and would not stop.
They repaired it and good as new.

I just bought a hvr-mrc1
to give new life to my Sony PD170.I am having the same timecode problem. I can see it on the hvr-mrc1, but when Vegas 10.0e imports it, it reads the starting point as 0000000.
I tried your scenelizer live, and within that program I can also see the correct timecode. But when I save it from there, the Vegas still opens it as if there is no timecode.
Have you come up with any workarounds in the last two years on this?

That is a question you have to decide on your own based on your needs and budget.
I have had two of nx5u cameras for a year, and I am earning a living off them shooting events.
I just bought two more because my business is expanding.
I bought these last two knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the cameras.

You may have to reshoot with another camera.
When I first got the nx5u I tried a slomo and found the same thing.
Then I read the owner’s manual VERY carefully.nx5u is a fake slomo. In other words, it achieves the slomotion affect my reducing the number of pixels that it captures per frame. That way it maintains the same bits per second.

Yes, the NX5u has an rca connector with a swith on it which says timecode in or timecode out.
I frequently do two or three camera shoots and use it all the time.
In fact, you can sync them up before the shoot, then disconnect the wires and the cameras stay within a couple of frames for a day or two before drifting out.John
