  • Does FS100 have timecode sync?

Posted by John Lenihan on August 17, 2011 at 2:07 pm

I just bought a new fs100 to complement my nx5u collection.

I expected to be able to sometimes use them together, but I don’t see a time code sync input/output on the fs100 compared to the NX5U.

Is there one in a different form?

Not really. There is TC out on the HDMI (AFAIK an industry’s first), but I haven’t seen a splitter for it yet. I’m curious myself how to use it. In this respect the AF10X from Panny is better…

Nevermind, just found it looking on-line. Weird place for it.. I was using someone else’s today and couldn’t find it.

Well, that’s interesting. Answering a question with a question.

Yes, the NX5u has an rca connector with a swith on it which says timecode in or timecode out.

I frequently do two or three camera shoots and use it all the time.
In fact, you can sync them up before the shoot, then disconnect the wires and the cameras stay within a couple of frames for a day or two before drifting out.

Hi John – did you ever determine how to use that embedded timecode over HDMI ? I’m considering the FS100U over the NX5U, because it has interval shooting and interchangeable lenses. Being able to synch cams would be great.
