  • Modify audio and Interpret Video are not available in proxy workflow. So what you need to do is change the actual media files, rather than the way Premiere sees them. QTChange from Video Toolshed will do that. It is destructive, so once you delete the tracks, there’s no getting them back; maybe not a bad idea to make sure you keep a copy of your original media.

Change your keyframes from linear to Bezier, and the proper handles will appear in the graph.

+1 on Cineform, and it’s cross-platform. One minor downside: it’s less-well known, so people who receive it may wonder what they’re getting.

Another alternative is Avid DNxHD or DNxHR – many flavors, just like ProRes.

One post house partner we use has started using MXF OP1a as a wrapper instead of QuickTime (DNxHD codec inside), avoiding any security jitters some may have with using QuickTime.

What kind of file are you exporting? Not all formats carry timecode (MP4s, for example, do not), but QuickTime, MXF and others should inherit the sequence timecode.

  • Not sure if this is possible in CS6 (which was released in 2012!), but in CC, you can drag a comp from the AE project panel into the Premiere project panel, establishing a fresh link.

The frame size of the proxies doesn’t matter as long as the aspect ratio is correct. If your original footage is 4k, make them the same aspect as 4k. If they’re UHD, match that aspect ratio. The beauty of Premiere’s proxy setup is that all your resizing, reframing, etc. happens transparently between the proxies and the native files, so create your masterpiece as you normally would.

Here’s a handy chart for choosing the proper proxy setting:
    https://www.dylanosborn.com/do/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/ProxyFrameSizeChart.pdf

As for frame rate, your 60fps all should come in properly, but interpreting to a different frame rate isn’t possible.
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2408765
It’s good news that your 108fps EVA1s clips have the slomo baked in at 24. They are perfect already – you can make normal proxies for those. The issue comes with cameras that aren’t doing that – 60fps being used in a 24fps project, for example. Normally, one would import the files natively and interpret the frame rate to 24; that function isn’t supported in the proxy workflow.

  • Couple of ways to do this, I think:

    – Click on your credit roll in the timeline (the clip created by Essential Graphics), then in the menu bar, click Graphics > Export as Motion Graphics Template. Give it a _short_ name and save to Essential Graphics (it will then appear in the Browse section of Essential Graphics) or to a central location you won’t be deleting (and you’ll have to import it from that location). Now you can use that as a starting point each time and adjust as needed.

    – Save to a central location a copy of your project with the graphics, then delete everything in the project except the graphics. Now you can open that project alongside each episode’s project and copy-paste-adjust as needed.

I wouldn’t worry about making proxies in native resolutions – just make sure you have ingest presets at matching aspect ratios. Premiere tracks the size difference seamlessly. The one thing you should be aware of, though, is interpreting frame rates, which is problematic in the proxy workflow (unless it’s been updated in the new version). If you’re planning on using the 108fps media as slow-mo clips, you may want to fully transcode those into 24p full-res files and make proxies of those instead.

Well, it sounds like you have this covered, but you might check your AME preset. I used to have what I thought were issues with window burns, and it turned out it was my error in the AME settings. I didn’t have the “match source” box checked on Video > Frame Rate. That doesn’t seem related to drop/non-drop mathematics (and again, 23.98 drop frame? WTF?) but I just thought I’d toss it into the discussion.
