Negative…. he can apply the color correction to the media he needs to correct in the project media pool and simply edit, the color correction will only affect what he applies it to and not any other piece of media.
It seems the workaround for this is to not use the GPU for rendering AVC codec. If your GPU is not on the suppported list, you should be using the CPU for rendering.
you say you shot PAL, make sure you use the correct template for your dvd. (i.e. don’t use NTSC if you are trying to render PAL) As long as you have rendered the correct mpg file, dvda should not have to render anything other than menus.
are you rendering a region that included the cut time selection or are you rendering the clip? double click the event to set a region of the clip itself and render that region selection.
