As best as I’ve been able to determine you can’t have it set up to feed HDMI to the shogun and also feed SDI out. The Atomos instructions didn’t show how to set up to feed SDI to the shogun and I infer you can’t do that and then take the second SDI our from the camera to a monitor, that you can only use HDMI. I’d like to find out I’m wrong about that.

Thanks for all the replies. I’ve been using them more the last day or two and no issues, which I couldn’t afford right now.

May 27, 2015 at 3:19 pm in reply to: Did Adobe buy GM?

I have to admit this was a little dig at Adobe, but I can understand why they would like a subscription model, and from their POV it’s eminently reasonable. Also, the Adobe people that post here always are polite and entirely reasonable.

I’m hardly especially resistant to change – I jumped right into FCPX and many other changes since I started in this business, shooting and editing film – but I really do like the feeling of ownership. Even If I get stuck at a certain point, at least I can continue on in that state. Having someone else wanting my money monthly is just annoying. It’s the same reason I don’t lease cars, essentially, I save up and then buy them outright.

It’s good to have options. Owning what I’ve paid for is the best option for me. So far.

I recently had a few crashes on my Retina iMac and sent in several crash reports. Within a day or two I got an email from an Apple support guy asking for some additional details and reports. So, somebody’s reading them.

Every time I’ve ever seen you post you’ve been polite and reasonable. Speaking solely for myself, any comments probably only reflect a massive dislike for the rental software model. You personally have always been a fine fellow.

Thanks, guys. I installed the plugins as on the other machines and it works with the xdcam ex files, rewrapping them. I’m not using any cameras that shoot Sony.mxf currently, so I’ll deal with that issue when it comes up.

November 11, 2014 at 9:09 pm in reply to: Having problem when import an FCPXML into library

I had a similar problem this week. Not identical, but similar. The problem was with the original project itself. We created a new project and then cut and pasted everything from the non-working one into the new one and exported that xml, and that imported fine.

    Hope this helps.

I still miss Liquid, it was waaay ahead of it’s time. I still think one of the reasons I like FCP X so much is that it’s sort of Liquid-like …
