January 2, 2006 at 5:12 am in reply to: P2 HD workflow vs. HDVMy editors have been authoring corporate, industrial and educational DVD projects with Encore quite successfully since it was first released. Since we are not a Mac-based shop, we tried several different PC apps and Encore was the winner. It’s successful integration with other Adobe apps is well known. Is it perfect? Is Studio Pro perfect? Do you guys really believe that most PC based companies just do event video?

November 2, 2005 at 4:03 pm in reply to: HD Monitoring Again!I am hoping to find an LCD, if it is indeed less than 1920 x 1080(such as either 1280 x 720 or 1388 x 720) that displays 1080i well. Seems to be the biggest complaint, unless of course you go the full 1080 to begin with. Then there is the problem of displaying 720 on a 1080 unit. Anyone found a display that handles these scenarios?

Interesting – I have owned and operated a small video production studio for the last 25 years. Have used every single version of Premiere since it’s inception. Also own and use Avid, Sony Vegas, Ulead Media Studo Pro and Pinnacle Liquid. So far, P. Pro 1.5.1 has been a huge improvement over earlier versions, and for us on 6 different workstations, it has been a solid performer, devoid of so many of the earlier problems, especially crashes. My staff have recently been comparing the lastest versions of all of these NLE apps., and we have decided to stick with P. Pro until something better comes along. We are very careful about keeping our host systems ‘healthy’, updated, and loaded with lots of ram and fast mboard/processor. Sure, a new 2.0 version would be great but we don’t expect it out until the next NAB.

Nevermind, Autoripple was turned on and would not allow Ungroup.

Go to Adobe Support, type in Premiere. Problems burning from the timeline is first on the list. Hope this helps.

July 4, 2005 at 8:13 pm in reply to: Trouble Making DVD – Easier with Encore?Raymond,
You are one of many users of P.Pro 1.5 having problems burning a DVD straight from the timeline. Check out some of the previous threads on this subject. Many oy us get error message or unfinished burns. I have several different workstations; some will burn and some have problems, yet all run Win XP Pro with SP2, P. Pro 1.5.1, etc. We have been unable to solve this problem.

July 2, 2005 at 4:03 am in reply to: HVX-200 Vs. Varicam- What do you think?I have owned and operated a small production studio for the last 20 years involved in a wide variety of projects. Most of my clients have zero knowledge of cameras, tape formats, edit systems, etc., nor do they care. Beta SP and DV Cam quality has been just fine. In the real world of video production, few of us ever do a film-out. These are video projects made using video gear. However, every so often, a client DOES KNOW AND DOES CARE! These clients have been around high-end productions using high-end equipment and the final visual quality is very important to them. But most of all, they are paying for it. Small form-factor cameras are not acceptable to them, no matter how much money they might save by trying them. Quality 2/3 chip cameras are required. It is a continuous process of do-I buy or do-I rent, is every thing in-house or do parts of these projects get sub-contracted. Trying to wrangle a budget with great production values with these folk is a never-ending task, but the bottom line is, the client often calls the shots. It’s their money. But, I will still buy an HVX-200, hee, hee!
