    Melvin,

I recently purchased the Casio EX-F1. I am producing a motorcycle racing DVD dedicated to Extreme Body English with losts of SLO MO. This Hybrid camera is one of the tools I am using and is really amazing. The 1080i and 720p capabilities are very cool considering the intent in it’s purchase was the variable burst still capability along with the 300fps, Haven’t really used the 600fps and 1200fps yet. I have a few tech questions that maybe you could answer. Can you email me at john@inlandimages.com so that I can continue offline?

Douglas – thanks for the reply. Why exactly would you choose the Panasonic over the Sony? Low light is important as well.

By the way, I only live just down the road from the Perris Airport and my So.Cal studio is in downtown Lake Elsinore. I am guessing that you are shooting skydivers?

I have built 2 systems over the past 6 months that are very similar to Mike’s. You really don’t want to skimp on motherboard capabilities, power supply and cooling. These issues can comeback to haunt you later. I am currently assembling parts for a 3rd system. Like the others, it will have a Sata system drive and a Raid drive consisting of (2) Internal Satas. Last time I used (2)Western Digital 500s but will go with larger units this time as the price/capacity ratio keeps improving. Setting up an internal raid system in both Win XP and Vista is very easy. I installed both XP and Vista as a Dual Boot setup in these systems, but have found Vista to be perfectly stable and really never boot to XP. Will install Vista only on the new system. Sony will be showing their 64bit version of Vegas at the NAB show in Las Vegas next week – another tie-in with a fast, 64bit capable system. A Quadcore processor will let you multi-task better than a Core 2Duo. That Intel price drop is exactly what I am waiting on. Some of the newer motherboards will have multiple PC Express slots, external Sata ports and soon, USB 3 ports. Laptops are handy, but you will not match the performance/pricepoint of a desktop. Good Luck.

I’ve built and use (2)dual boot Vista 32bit/XP Pro systems based on Core2 Duo Procs. They are very fast and Vegas 8.0b runs great, as does everything else that I use on a daily basis in a studio situation with paying customers. I rarely boot to XP Pro. Will explore Vista 64bit when Sony releases a working version of Vegas 64bit. Despite the Vista naysayers and Mac Heads, Vista seems to work just fine.

As Edward recommends. By the way, give this program some time. It is an excellent, fluid NLE with many good features. Been using it daily in the studio for many years.

With Pan/Crop open, check the lower left corner. You will see Position just above Mask. Make sure Position is highlighted instead of Mask, as it is easy to activate the wrong one.

Forgot to mention that ‘paste attributes’ willl not work for this as I still have to open the effect on each clip to access the custom setting from the dropdown.
