Quick question; I edit with a pretty old pc which is getting a little to slow for my means. I have been thinking of purchasing a new one. I have heard that vista has some bugs. Would Vegas work well on vista? Also I heard that you can put two opperating systems on a computer (Vista and XP). Since I already have the xp package, would having both systems be a good idea? Finally is there any recommended computer brand for editing (I like HP a lot)? Thanks.

vista64 business works fine for me for vegas. no hassles since day one. was a self install.

yes, you can dual boot. just install xp first, if you want to set it up.

no partic brand of PC is better than another, IMHO – is more about the partic spec you buy.

Okay, about the dual boot; if the pc comes with vista can I put xp on it (without installing that first).

I’ve built and use (2)dual boot Vista 32bit/XP Pro systems based on Core2 Duo Procs. They are very fast and Vegas 8.0b runs great, as does everything else that I use on a daily basis in a studio situation with paying customers. I rarely boot to XP Pro. Will explore Vista 64bit when Sony releases a working version of Vegas 64bit. Despite the Vista naysayers and Mac Heads, Vista seems to work just fine.

I don’t know what the complications might be, but is common experience that XP should go on first. You can always give the opposite method a try…….

have found I suddenly need to use Nikon Capture to control my D70 for time lapse recording, and Capture doesn’t like vista, so XP going on to my system tomorrow
