    Sorry. I misunderstood. Thinking of sync I thought SD = standard def. A Sound Deviced recorder makes a lot more sense for audio.

    The Gen 10 is excellent. We have one in our kit. It’s very flexible and will generate both SD sync & tri-level sync. BTW, the KiPro will down-convert to SD in real time. You could capture it in your NLE.

    Make sure the project properties match those of the clip. Also, there’s a setting in Prefs > Playback > Playback Quality s/b set to Better Performance.

    A note about sync. If you want hard sync both cameras need to be fed a reference signal such as video black or tri-level sync. Then if you feed timecode to each camera sync should be rock solid.

    Marl’s idea is very good. Motion has an excellent tracker that should be able to do the job. Here’s a Motion tracking tutorial.Motion tracking tutorial. It shows how to track text to a moving background, but you’d simply substitute the shape that will cover the road name for the text. If you Google Apple Motion tracking other info will pop up.

    This sometimes happens with a camera and drive connected at the same time to FW. Most Macs have on;y one FW controller, even though they have multiple FW ports, and so can’t control both devices. You might want to capture to your internal drive then copy out to your 3TB.

    Try shortening the new file by a frame or two, then import. X is probably looking at the metadata and it matches the original clip. Change the length and, hopefully, it will be unique and accepted as such by X.

    Try opening the Mac’s System Prefs > Display > Color. There you may see (I don’t know how your monitors work with the OS) a bunch of profiles. One may get you closer to what you want to see. There’s also a Calibrate button. I know that works with Mac displays, but it may work with yours. Good luck.
