    It’s just the way it works. Other limiters like many made by Waves allow you to set absolute output levels.

    The Gain control and Output interact. I suggest you set the Gain until you see the limiter working in the Gain Reduction meter, then adjust the Output where you want it. You can then play with the Gain & Output until you’re happy.

    Quite strange, I agree. I’m mostly using FCPX now, but I don’t recall ever seeing this with FCP since v4.

    Zoom in and see if, perhaps, you have 2 markers at the same time. I don’t think having two colors affects anything. You can color markers any way you wish. Although, it is strange if a single marker has two colors.

    If you Google “QuickTime free download” you should find links for QT7.6. You should be able to enter your license for that. There are still many folks using QT7.6 instead of QT X.

    It’s not on the approved SSD list. Which is not to say it won’t work. Many folks are happy with the Sandisk Extreme.

    Personally, I almost always use a preamp ahead of the camera. Some Beachteks have preamps as do the JuicedLink boxes. A good preamp will sound better and you won’t have level problems. Most folks send audio to both the DSLR and an external recorder. That way it’s a lot easier to sync the external audio to the video. You’ve mentioned the popular options, but checkout the new entries by those manufacturers. Sound Devices makes a number of mixers that include a recorder, but they’re a much pricier option.

    I agree with 1/2 at a time. You might also narrow it down to the end of the first 1/3 or start of the second 1/3. 256GB is about 1/3 of 800GB.

    Have you tried adjusting the Spill Level? That might help. It adds magenta to cancel out the green.

    Checkout the Sony FS700. Not cheap, but an excellent camera especially for high frame rates.
