I’m not in front of my computer so please excuse inaccuracies. In Compressor you find Frame Controls in the 3rd or 4th tab of the Inspector. Frame Controls allows you to set high quality settings for re-timing, resizing and/or de-interlacing. Using FC greatly increases the quality, but also increases the processing time.

Wave Agent, free from Sound Devices, allows you to change that metadata in the audio file. I’ve used it once or twice to change audio t/c that was entered incorrectly during a shoot.

Have you tried opening it in QuickTime or Compressor. If it opened you could export a ProRes file. Can the guy export another copy? Hopefully, he tests it before sending it on. If he doesn’t have ProRes he could export uncompressed. Then you could use that or transcode it to ProRes in Compressor.

I’m not familiar with Zoom specifics. You mention 30 and 24. If that’s actual 30 or 24 instead of 29.97 or 23.976, you will definitely have sync issues. You can use Wave Agent from Sound Devices to change the t/c rate.

Checkout this thread where Jeremy Garchow outlines a way to address out-of-sync audio due to different frame rates.

If you have Media Info use that to find out what type of MPEG you have. That will make it easier to know how to proceed.

You might have better results in Compressor using Frame Controls. I export a ProRes from FCP then use that in Compressor. If you have Squeeze, or other encoding program, try that, too.

Try Wave Agent, a free download from Sound Devices. It allows you reset the t/c of an audio file.

First off, there’s a forum for FCPX – where you’ll get more specific info about it. Motion is for motion graphics. It also lets you create effects for FCPX that appear inside FCPX. Compressor is an encoder. It allows you to transcode between formats and also encode videos to share. There are many presets so you can easily make clips for You Tube, etc. There are many tutorials here on the COWfor all the programs.

That sounds like the added pulldown, so editing the clips at 29.97 will retain the look you shot.
