Beware, there are reports that the timecode from this plugin is inaccurate. It’s possible that in a newer version it’s been fixed. CoreMelt is a terrific company and I expect if it hasn’t already been fixed, it will be soon.

Best way to ensure sync between 2 or more cameras is to send reference (black or tri-level) to all the cameras Ref (or Gen) inputs. Then, send timecode to the cams timecode inputs. This will hold sync all day and have synced timecode. With just 2 cams you can use composite video out from cam 1 to Ref in Cam2, and timecode out cam 1 to timecode in cam 2. For short scenes you can use a slate at the start of the scene, and/or use FCPX multicam or Plural Eyes to match the audio tracks from both cams. That will hold for short scenes and then start to drift. If your cam doesn’t have ref in/out or timecode in/out, you’re stuck with syncing with audio. Feed the same audio to both cams to get best results. When the tracks start to drift, blade the tracks and re-sync.

If the cameras were synced with ref and timecode, both cams should stay in sync. Looking at the timecode, you can simply drag contiguous clips to the timeline and they should play across the edit without a problem. How did you import the data? Leave in place or Copy to library?

Your idea makes sense to me. But, is there a debate anymore that justifies having the forum named that? How about FCP X Basic and FCP X. That worked forever for FCP.

I’be never tried importing a .m4a or .mp4m, but wavs have always worked. The wav should be 16 or 24 bit 48kHz. There are no quality selections needed. If you export the clip is it still squishy? If so, post an example so we can hear it. If the audio is stereo it’s possible you’re hearing phase shift for some reason. Where’d the wav come from?

You can send either of the outputs Richard describes wirelessly. That’d free you from cables if you need freedom to move.

There are a couple of subtitle programs in the App Store. Checkout SRT Edit Pro and Subtitle Writer. The first lets you spot the subtitles and make the SRT file and the second embeds the SRT in the video. Another is a part of FX Factory called Subtitles by SUGARfx. I’ve played with SRT Edit Pro and Subtitle Writer, but not Subtitles. They all have their pros & cons. There are other more expensive options.

Feed the black to the video input. If ref in is needed feed black to that, too. That should work. But, try it and find out for sure.
