    The path to the loops, etc. is: Library>Audio>Apple Loops>Apple>Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro>5 folders with .caf clips.

    I’m not aware of any app that can change aiff to caf. I’ve never tried to do that. QT can play cafs. You can always import aiffs into Soundtrack to use as an effect. If the aiff is a loop, however, you wouldn’t have the same functionality. I use Pro Tools rather than Soundtrack Pro and am not that familiar with it. There is an Apple Soundtrack forum where you might find better info.

    Lighting the green screen properly is the secret to an easy key. Shooting progressive is better and interlaced. IMHO gamma is irrelevant. If your foreground looks the way you want and the green screen is well lit, you’ll be fine.

    How about a small monitor you can mount (or your client can handhold) connected to the Monitor Output with Characters turned on. Client can then see picture and t/c.

    Have you tried to capture with your GL2? What kind of capture drive are you using and how is it connected? How’s your camera connected? Also, it never hurts to Trash Prefs and Repair Permissions. That’s the first thing I do when FCP starts acting strangely.

    Like Doug, I too capture SDI with embedded audio all the time. Our AJA IO feeds SDI to our Kona for SD captures. I don’t know if you can do this with your Kona (probably can), but with ours you can save various setups in the control panel for easy recall later.

    We use a mirrored RAID from G-Tech. That way when off-loading P2 data two copies are made at the same time. BTW we use another single drive to make a 3rd backup of the data. You can’t be too careful! And when traveling, the RAID and separate drive are carried by different people.

    I’m not that familiar with that camera, but I believe it has to be set to FW mode (or iLink, etc.) for it to appear. Check the manual to be sure.

    There are many posts on the Cow that answer your questions. Probably the most important factor in achieving a good key is lighting the green screen properly. After that there are many tools/plugins that will do an excellent job. Search and you’ll find your answers.
