  • The only thing I lost was MS Word 2004, because Lion doesn’t support rosetta, which was needed to run those programs. Parallels needed an update to run windows. Lots of other apps had compatibility updates, but that wasn’t too intensive.

I believe if you run time machine on your old machine to an external drive, you should have your entire computer recreated on the new Lion system. Sounds like almost all your apps should work, assuming you’re up to date on them all.

    Good luck!

Since we got the 7D, our HVX200 has sat collecting dust. Panny’s ridiculously priced P2 cards are just not what they used to be. Considering there are good options with a KiPro and other cameras with SDI out and capture at prores, I seriously can’t imagine putting a future into any p2 based format. Full disclosure though, I haven’t done my homework on P2 in years as it’s just not on our radar.

Worst case, wait and see what Canon has to offer after Nov 3. There’s supposedly a big announcement coming. Perhaps a new camcorder with SDI out and works with Canon lenses? Or a 5D MarkIII that captures at ProRes? Who knows? I’ll be watching…

I’ve been watching the Vimeo Pro thing for a while now, and while I do like their implementation on some levels, Vimeo is not always swift on iPads and IOS devices. Considering that you can upload a ton to YouTube and have all your work labeled as ‘unlisted’ for easy embedding in your own site via iframe, I just don’t know what Vimeo buys you. No Vimeo watermark?

Vimeo lost me on the ‘pro’ service when they put a bandwidth limit on it.

I get this error a lot when I have lots of photos in a project. Try using lower resolution photos if that’s what you have going on, or perhaps rendering your photos out as movies.

If the disks work in the other drive but not the internal one you have, sounds like you have a faulty drive. It shouldn’t do that.

The only other thing I can think of would be that maybe you’re using cheap disks or got a bad batch that doesn’t play well with your drive? Do all brands of disks do that?

in the file menu, go to ‘view’, and then if you see ‘organize by conversation’ checked, select it again and it’ll organize in the normal way. The checkmark should be removed.

Now if they can make this dump into Logic so we can export OMF, I’ll be a long way towards happy.

  • Good. Buys them a little more time to fix X. Eliminates one of the major complaints to boot.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Mac Pro gets an update soon. It’s way past due and if nothing else needs to get up to speed with Thunderbolt.
