That’s the pre-unibody version, right? Oy – that’s a pain in the butt. Be wary, that macbook does not like to be messed with internally. If you can get somebody to do it for you, you’ll be happier. There are lots of online tutorials, so if you decide to go through with it be gentle. I screwed mine up (same model) by accidentally bending the latch section.

The way I described you can have all 50 clips built with keywords tagged in about 5 minutes. Then you can use it for all eternity. Just make a custom keyword collection in the place of cntrl+1 like “Clipped Shots”. It’s STUPID easy.

Like this:

Hi CMD+K to open up keywords
Next to Cntl+1 in the keywords window is a blank space – type in Gig Clips or whatever you want it called.
Select the first clip in the project (timeline).
Hit Shift+F
Then hit Cntl+1
Your clip has been added with correct in/out to the keyword collection.
Select next clip, repeat process starting with Shift+F.

In the end you’ll have a keyword collection with ALL your clips from the sequence ready to go. You select the keyword collection, drag it into any new project, collect the money. Easy.

Projects aren’t exactly tied to events the same way as sequences were in projects in legacy FCP. It’s different. I’m still figuring it out too.

X forces you to embrace metadata (favorites and keywords). You can fight it, but in the end resistance is futile.

I’m curious is one of those network sync files/folders automator scripts would be able to update the event if it only contains referenced media.

This would be a GREAT use for iCloud.

To get the clips you’ve already worked in quickly keyworded, select each clip, then his “Shift – F” your in/out of the selected clip will open up in the browser. From that point, just assign a keyword (cmd+k) will open up the keyword selector.

Lots of tutorials about keywords, just wanted to show you that your work isn’t ‘lost’ so to speak.

3 days or so left on the trial. They never called me or anything after sitting and filing a escalation report with their support, unless you count the email I just got saying “Don’t let your trial expire. Buy Today!”

I guess I wasn’t under enough stress.

I’m still waiting as well. Nothing like giving your customers an anxiety attack every time they open your software. I keep thinking that if I wait long enough they’ll get it to me, but clearly that won’t be the case.
