We just delivered our final FCP7 project (knock on wood) yesterday and have been working with a variety of networks on FCPX for six weeks. We have people key wording lots of episodes of shows so editing goes MUCH faster now. We only deliver sub masters and completed string outs via tape or digital delivery (prores), so the NLE we use doesn’t matter to clients.

Any time we have a frustrating moment where we don’t know how to do something, we remember our old friends “General Error”, “Out of Memory”, and “Cannot Save Project”, and we cheer up pretty quickly.

On a 2009 mac pro with external monitor on it seems a little easier to recreate. On a current iMac it still happens, but far less often.

Glad to know I’m not alone. This doesn’t matter on mine whether I’m above or below the primary, it happens A LOT.

Maybe it was changed in .05 as a reaction to accidentally adjusting volume when you are moving the clip. This is a byproduct of having so many clickable elements within a clip in a project. How many times do you guys accidentally click the top left of a clip and open up that pop up when all you wanted to do was drag a clip around a bit? I love all the stuff we can adjust mouse-only, but sometimes it gets in the way of actual editing.

You know – perhaps in 10.05 the higher resolution of the project timeline creates a situation where this specific issue doesn’t occur, but at lower resolutions it does.

I rarely use the P tool. It’s a pretty strange little quirk. Before I click to raise the clip everything looks right and ready to raise, then I click and sometimes it raises it, and other times it moves the clip. Mostly I use cntl+ or -, but for larger volume increases the clip itself is theoretically faster – when it stays put.

I know lots of people who refused to get the macbook pros when they first came out and got the powerbook G5’s. In retrospect they seriously regretted it.

You work in the biz, it’s a totally mac-daddy write off, and a Pegasus is so good that it’s worth it. Personally I’m ridiculously happy with my 11in air, but if I needed a powerful laptop, that’s the only one I’d get.

Install “better touch tool” and program some gestures into your mouse to accomplish what you want. You can program all kinds of cool things to a magic mouse and trackpad.
