  • It’s very surprising how buggy it is – especially for bug fix release. I was really excited about the double speed digitize, but now I discover I can’t even use that feature. I’m not at all happy about how many times I’ve had to force shutdown my mac this past week. How in the world did this not get noticed?

  • Yeah, I”m having some weird things going on, timecode breaks on digitize that aren’t there, this display thing, a crash when fast forwarding on my deck – things like that. I’m thinking I might have to rollback.

    Gotcha. Thanks!

  • I seriously thought I was going crazy. Thank you for posting this. Also, my control panel has up and gone missing on me. Is that happening to anybody?

Thanks for posting! When their video and still camera departments merge into one, we will all be much happier. I’d love the 7D with a 4:2;2 color space – or at least be able to record uncompressed to a Ki Pro.

By the way, was that interview kind of weird with the interviewer running sound, 2 cameras, and holding a mic? Considering that he wasn’t zooming or moving the camera in any way, was it just so he could be seen using equipment? I think he should have used his 5D to shoot, and then 10 minutes in stop the Canon guy (when the 5D hits its recording limit) so that he could restart the recording. What a very subtle way to express the need for longer than 10 minute record times…

I got the 36″ indislider last week and just shot a national spot for (unnamed home improvement store) . It’s good. Our shoot was last week and once you get the knack of regulating slide speed, it’s really fun. I sort of hate tripod shots now.

Also have a tripod wheel kit for my bogen tripod. Haven’t used it yet as the slide works so well.

  • Canon’s new plug-in software for Final Cut Pro will be available for FREE download on Canon web sites around the world in early March 2010.

Looking at my calendar, it’s March 15. There goes the ‘early’ part of our show. I hope this comes out this week, I have a shoot tomorrow!

Just to make sure, you run software update regularly, right? It’s worth the investment to put ilife 09 on your mac pro as well as your daughters macbook. The faces features really make a big difference, plus there are a slew of changes from version 6 to version 8.
It may be that the camera doesn’t work with version 6 of iphoto (which is a 4 or 5 year old program).

Or, the easiest solution might be to make sure your iphoto preferences are set for ‘connect camera opens “iphoto”‘.

A similar thing happened to me when an adapter ring got stuck on my HVX200. Nothing worked at all – then I got some grip gloves from Home Depot or Lowes, and it came off. I wouldn’t use any pliers or anything like that, especially with glass involved.
The gloves work great, don’t scratch, and don’t break anything. They really should go in every shooters gear bag.

I have to say I’m amazed they responded to you at all. I was under the impression that Highpoint support was a black hole somewhere in the mutabi nebula.
