They updated it – QTX is much better now. I used it yesterday to export a web qt of a clip to a client. Very simple to use now – to the point that I can’t even remember why I actually needed QT7 for. Was it for WMV’s?

This is basically the same issue people with older mac pros have had with the new 27 cinema displays. You either have to stay mini-display to display (I have run extensions to two 27′ with no problem on a new mac pro) or buy some kind of $150 converter to go from mini-display to to DVI. The simple adapter won’t work.

I’ve had the 1.2 50mm for about a year and I have not once regretted it.

Did you hear about about the 600 million dollar high school Koreatown just got? Here in LA, we laugh at your modest corruption.

I agree with Mark. In this particular forum, you’re not getting posts from people in large media companies because these folks can get fired for posting anything. Maybe the encouragement of restraint is a good thing, but it might be a myopic rule because you’re not hearing certain voices that are very, very important to all of our careers.
I have probably 15 years of contacts at dozens of networks, and I only know about 5 people on here from my pre-cow life. Part of that is because I’m editorially focused and not technical – the cow just doesn’t offer much to people in terms of Creative Services (network promotions, not actual creativity). Another part is because network x might fire somebody for posting on a board – it’s not as crazy as it sounds.

It would be the easiest thing in the world to allow an anonymous post, or to ‘anonymize’ a post like on craigslist. You still have the IP address, so a little cross referencing would eliminate an insulting poster – or expose him/her if that person was posting something ridiculous. If you abuse the anonymizer, your IP gets banned. What you might find is that you get new insights into parts of our industry that aren’t always represented. Isn’t that one of the goals of the cow?

Welcome to GA. Just another reason why I left. If I were a guessing man, I’d say a few key businesses were planning some major layoffs and don’t want former employees creating startups that could compete. If this passes, people that get dumped won’t have the ability to feed themselves with their own knowledge. But don’t worry, the major news will be another ban on gay marriage, or some ridiculous drug-war.

In two years there will be another insane drought, and there will be only one company to bid on the incredible sewage/water upgrades Atlanta desperately needs. There would have been more bids, but thanks to this non-compete upgrade, that won’t happen. I bet it’ll cost taxpayers cool billion.

Are you wireless or hardwired via ethernet? Gigabit? Airport extreme? The OS is merely one small link in a bigger chain. Without providing any information on your system set up, how can we give any real advice on how to fix it? I

Sort of a loaded question. Are you insured? Do you have lots of overhead? The costs of doing business often drive the cost of production. Are you in a large city or small? Market size also factors in. Have you done this for 10 years and know what caveats to avoid? Music libraries will cost money. Easy answer – 10k. Medium answer – 30k. Hard answer – 2k. DSLR’s are used all over broadcast nowadays, so just because your camera didn’t cost 30k doesn’t mean you can’t charge a premium price.

The quality of your storytelling and your clients ability to pay will define what you cost.

Perfect example of a thread that should be anonymized or deleted. It can come back to haunt Josh for the rest of his career, which I think is contrary to the purpose of a site dedicated to teaching others how to use tools of the trade.
