Lots of places to find music, really depends what you can afford—start with a google search “royalty free music”. As to what that music would be called, you probably are looking for a “stinger”

You could try a search for “free music”, but less chance you will find specific 10 second stingers. Also, digitial juice has music, lower prices & generally lower quality, but for a logo sting, you might be able to find something.

Glad you found it useful. One more thing about that script, it works on measuring a layers velocity, so you can copy the expression from position, and apply it to rotation & scale to create overshoot in those properties also.

It doesn’t need the control layer either, you can manually enter values into freq and decay(helpful if you are working with more than one parameter at once). I only created the control layer, cause I was working with multiple layers and I was getting annoyed by having to change every value for all the layers every time I wanted to make a change.

What was the initial expression you tried to modify?

I have this overshoot expression I modified from the expressions forum, might be of some use to you, did a quick test and it sort of looks like falling into a fireman trapoline.

You might try in the expressions forum. I could write you up a ease expression that could take could take info from scale and apply it to your z position, but if you truly want to convert scale to position it’s going to take a little more math than I know.

What are you using to create your flare(AE Flare effect)? That looks like a third party flare to me, which makes things a bit easier.

Open up the placehold folder, there are probably precomps inside of it. With generic names, double click the first one and drag your footage into that precomp. It should ripple forward to the master comp. If not, they’re is another issue.

Jumping into the AE is like trying to play a piano without music lessons, you likely won’t get it. It has a real steep learning curve. Also, even when working with templates, you need to have a basic understanding of how to use the program.

For instance, when you are previewing, I’m guessing you are pressing the space bar, that’s the play button, but AE isn’t an editing program, it’s a compositing program that needs to render it’s layers. In AE, you would want to go to where you want to start your preview and press “B”, move to where it should finish and press “N”, then press the “.” on the number keypad. That will start a RAM preview where all the layers are rendered and loaded into RAM. Once that’s done, it will playback the work area in real time.

For the photos that are vertical, you will need to go into replacement composition, press “S” and scale up and adjust the position of the pictures.

You really need to start here. Getting started with After Effects (CS4, CS5, CS5.5, CS6, & CC)

Then if you have more questions—come back.

July 7, 2014 at 1:48 pm in reply to: White sky replacement

It’s an extremely long shot, so you might want to do some editing—particularly when you pan from the land to ocean.

I adjusted the color of your sky background to be a bit more natural. For your foreground—I precomp and did added an auto contrast. Then in the master comp, I just used a luma key effect—set it to key out brighter, increased the edge feather, then added a simple choker to pull back the areas where “light wrap” would come into play. The simple choke cut off some of the top and bottom, so I scaled up a little.

Take a look at my project, it should give you a starting point on how to proceed. Mine was pretty quick & rough, so in the end you will need to do some masking, and I would probably color correct the entire final result also. 7716_skyreplacement.aep.zip

July 7, 2014 at 11:22 am in reply to: Render Lossless Comp and Import as Footage?

Yes you can do that. In the Output settings, there is a post-render action pulldown and one of the options is Import and Replace Usage. You can choose that and the precomps in the final will automatically be updated with your rendered file. Just make sure you choose a lossless codec, like QT_Animation.
