If it were me, I would probably use the CC Sphere effect to create my ball. That why you could rotate it to make it more realistic. Also, you CC Sphere has some basic lighting, highlights and shadows you could add to the ball to further integrate it into your scene.

Can you use the Pan Behind Mask tool(press “Y) to adjust it? Otherwise, I would just duplicate the video layer, remove all the masks, place it below your masked layer, and use the upper layer as a track matte. Then you just need to nudge the top layer into position.

The effect was popularized in the movie, “The Kid Stays in the Picture”, so along with the tutorial Tero linked(very good one), here’s the results was a search on the the kid stays in the picture effect. It’s also knowin as 2.5d effect

For doing a project like this, I use null controlled camera rig based off of this tutorial: Simple Camera Rig
Andrew Davis also has a good 3 part series on the subject of AE cameras and creating a very similar rig: Animating a Camera 1
Both of those tutorials explain some of the issues you will encounter when using AE cameras.
Another option is to use Video Copilot Sure Target 1.5, it won’t really teach you about why cameras behave the way they do, bit it’s a pretty nifty little plugin that will automatically get you from 1 video to the other. It’s a lot more limiting than if you keyframed everything with a regular camera.

MPEG2 is a pretty lossy compression, that might explain some of the crunchiness. Does your Master(apple prores lt) look bad?

I see what you mean about the “7”. The “i” looks right to me, but I question whether it will come in sized like the one in your graphic. One possibility is a second font was used for the numbers, probably not what you want to hear though.
To my eye though, you are right on with the letters. Do you need to get a 100% match(client likes it), or is this just a font you like and want to get? Either way, I think you have it—or have done enough work to move forward, IMO.

You need to give us more information. Did you apply an effect to the layer, or is it a text layer? What is the layer’s original color, how much of the color spectrum do you want to affect–1 channel, all 3 channels? And to Roland’s query, exactly what expression did you apply to the fill?

I think it is. I noticed that on the glyphs page you can enlarge each letter, then right-click and download them. You might want to download a “G” “M” “R” “B” “p” “g” “h” “t” & “n”, resize them, drop out the white and place them over your text in your graphics to compare.

I precomped your light source, then used that as a luma matte for your particle layers, I think that was what you were trying to achieve.
