    I don’t have Holometrix, but in your render Output Module have you changed your Channels to “RGB + Alpha” and your format to something supports an alpha, like Quicktime Animation or PNG?

    You can achieve this by creating a duplicate of your logo layer and placing it above your original layer. Add Stylize > Glow and adjust the glow to taste(I changed the “Glow Based on” to Alpha Channel.

    Finally an animated mask with feathered edges to reveal your glow.

    I made a quick sample project: 3329_glowhighlight.aep.zip

    November 28, 2011 at 1:11 pm in reply to: Translate Layer Position to Camera Movement

    It may end up being a little simpler to start from scratch, but one approach might be, change your picture to a 3D layer, create a camera and create pickwhip expressions to your already keyframed layer. This layer will be your “camera control”. Duplicate the layer and break it apart however you would like now and turn off the “camera control” layer.

    For rotation you would have to include a negative sign to maintain the same rotation.

    For position if you move the picture back in z space the amount of the camera focus distance, it will match up with where you started.

    Scale is achieved by animating the z-postion of your parent layer, of the focus distance or z-position of the camera.

    Once you do it once, you should be able to copy your expressions to your other compositions.

    You have probably hit the layer or transfer buttons in the bottom left corner of the timeline window. Press that and your modes should come back. Or just right click on the columns line(source name, parent…) and just choose “switches” or “modes”

    There are potentially a few ways to approach getting the strokes you need. In Illustrator copy the paths. Now in After Effects, create a solid and paste your masks. Now you can apply the stroke and proceed in the way Angie suggested.

    If for some reason you can’t copy the strokes from Illustrator, you can select your layer in AE and under the layer tab, use the “auto-trace” feature.

    Another option is to just create your own masks in AE.

    Let us know how it goes.

    If you don’t have trapcode shine, you could apply CC Radial Fast blur to your wings. To keep the original wing shape, you may want to have a duplicate, uneffected layer at the bottom of the stack.

    Precomp the entire thing and try CC Light Wipe. Change the shape to doors, angle to 90 degrees and reverse the transition.

    I made a quick project using some text, might be easier to see rather than try to understand my rambling explanations.

    Ted,

    Please delete this thread before any of my clients see it. 🙂 Wow, great work.

    Tutorial worthy(hint, hint). But if you don’t have the time for a tutorial, let me see if I’m understanding what you have done. You took the photos into photoshop, painted a depth matte and then used that to displace in Freeform and mettle. Finally you apply the pictures back as textures.

    The blonde girl at :18 seconds, is that just once instance of Freeform/shapeshifter? The depth on the outstetched elbow is really amazing.

    Again—very very nice, everyone in my office is extremely impressed..

    November 23, 2011 at 7:01 pm in reply to: ..Problems with the wiggle in a null object..

    Right now your expression just says wiggle(12,12), so it will always just be wiggling a 12 pixels.

    If I understand what you want to do, you need to change “the how much”(the second number in the wiggle). You need to change the second line of your expression to:
    wiggle(12,myFreq).

    Add “Expression Controls > Slider Control” to your null layer. Open up both the slider effect and your position expression.

    Change the expression to: myFreq = effect("Slider Control")("Slider");
    wiggle(myFreq,12)

    Now just you can keyframe the frequency of the wiggles. If you were to add another slider and variable, you could also change the amplitude of your wiggles.

    Like this:myFreq = effect("Slider Control")("Slider");
    myAmp = effect("Slider Control 2")("Slider")
    wiggle(myFreq,myAmp)

    I’m just going to copy and paste my answer from earlier today, 🙂

    Most likely your keyframes are set to one of the bezier types. Simple answer, click the position keyframes, right click on one of them and select “Keyframe Interpolation” and change your spatial keyframes to “linear”.

    To understand this better though, I suggest adobes help:
