I’ve worked on shows where all I have is the audio from the single camera mike.
What I’ve done is duplicate that single channel; offset the dupe by 1 frame and make a stereo pair. This will simulate the delay that your ears create.

I don’t see a square pixel option in fcp so you’ll have to do it in photoshop. What I do is set up the adjustment as an ‘action’. That’s where you record all of the steps of the adjustment (i.e. open file, adjust image size, click ok, save file). After I’ve done recorded the action, then I can ‘batch process’ (under ‘File>Automate’) all of the stills in that folder. This will run the action on all of the images in that folder.
This is also great for applying a certain set of photoshop filters to video. Just export your video as a ‘targa sequence’; develop an action for the first still, then ‘batch’ the rest of the images of the targa sequence. Open Quicktime Pro, File>Open Image Sequence, (why, oh why isn’t this option in FCP???) and save as a quicktime file.

I’m a little confused. Are the names ’24fps’, ‘HD1080p’ just names for the drives or does that have to do with the footage you’ve captured? If they are just names then you would do better to call them ‘drive 1, 2 and 3’ for clarity.
What codec is your footage and does your sequence match your footage?

I use a HUGE Systems 1.25TB Media Vault U320-R. It can handle all formats up to 10 bit HD. Of the two systems that I have used over the past 4 years, I’ve not had a single problem. Plus you can configure it for RAID 3.

I use dual 21″ monitors (4:3) and having a 30″ would be great, but couldn’t justify $2500 when I could get two good CRTs for less than $600.
That being said, there are times when I’ve wished for an additional monitor! I use one for my timeline because I usually have 8 layers of video and 8 layers of audio going. Plus I have a ton of assets, so it would be great to have a monitor devoted just to that and one for preview/program, filters and audio.
Hopefully Apple will come out with ‘multi-touch’ displays and that will revolutionize editing! We’d have to pony up for two of those!!

Never had a problem with any slowdowns or anything like that. I guess there used to be a protocol that said it was best to have your ethernet or appletalk turned off; i can’t remember.
Anyway, I do a lot of graphics and often I have to go to the client’s website for something or search out a problem or whatever. I’d waste too much time going to another workstation and transferring.

gotcha. I was merely saying that adding a RAID 3 controller would provide protection should a drive go down. Sort of equivalent to FCP having a backup vault.
With RAID 0, if a drive craps out your footage is lost. You would have to waste valuable time redigitizing everything. With RAID 3 you can continue working and when you get the replacement you can hot-swap out the drive and the RAID rebuilds in the background, thus eliminating costly downtime.
I’ve never had a drive go down in the last 4 years, but I have peace of mind that our weekly program won’t miss an airing because of an unprotected drive array.
