Thanks, Ryan! I installed Canon’s Utility Import tool, and the MTS files imported perfectly.

In the past, I always assumed FCP/Premiere would ingest these formats easily, since they are widely used. Luckily I didn’t toss the Canon software.

    Thanks!

February 23, 2010 at 5:39 pm in reply to: Corrupt AVCHD footage from 150

I had the same error. I assumed the card what corrupt, but it actually had to do with how I had my PB mode setup. The playback mode must be manually set to the format you shot the footage in. Oddly enough, it does not automatically recognize the format. I was trying to view 1080/60i in 720-something. Once I changed that PB setting, it worked fine.

    Hope this helps someone.

The card is a PNY Optima SDHC 8G card. It has worked in the past, and I have 3 others just like it that are working fine.

You question about the playback mode solved my question. I didn’t realize that the PB camera mode must be set to whatever you record in. Problem solved. I guess I assumed the camera would recognize the format I shot it in, but I guess that is a manual adjustment.

    Thanks thanks thanks. 🙂

I did see that thread, but I also saw that several people asked Qs like mine at the end and did not get an answer. I’d like to find exactly what people have done to recover these files. I can view the thumbnails on the camera, but they have a red line around them, instead of the preferred green line.

    Any ideas?

August 12, 2009 at 7:20 pm in reply to: Where do I put new transition files?

I know its not like installing an app – I just thought that they had to go into a specific “transitions” folder.

So I just put them somewhere accessible, and ‘file>import” them when I need them?

    Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll definitely try this out.

I must admit that I am a little confused about the workflow for this. I thought that Compressor would do all the encoding necessary for the video, but you mentioned using Flash Encoder.

Should I be encoding this separately from the Compressor?

    I appreciate the info.

    Awesome.

Do you by any chance know how to wrap a .mov file into a swf?

    Thanks for your help.

I’ve tried out the mp4/h264 settings in compressor, but the file ends up being about twice the size as what I can do with .mov.

I’ve used the mp4 in the past, and I didn’t have to change extension to flv – mp4 is a digestible format for Flash.

Maybe I’m missing something, but the compression seems to be more efficient for .mov than the other formats. If this is the case, I’m going to have to end up using Quicktime for my videos instead of Flash. Hopefully Quicktime X will have something to do with that.
