never did! but I basically recreate graphics for a living so…

I like it but what about when you just appear in the car? It would be cool if you displaced “into” the front seat as well.
Good job!

Hi Gary,
Now you have me a bit confused. 1st off, no HDCam here. My source is D5 which was telecined from film. Besides that, I do have an RT menu in my timeline, so what exactly do you mean when you say that there is no RT extreme in 10 bit uncompressed 1080?
Also, the RT solution worked.
Are you saying that in Tiger FCP cannot figure out to dump the extra segmented frame and display as progressive without a render?

[David Roth Weiss] “Set to unlimited RT first and see what that does, then tweak from there”
THANK YOU!!!
Unlimited RT and Dynamic did the trick. Gosh we rarely ever tweak the RT menu so I’m glad you suggested it.

Thanks David.
Big red line on top.
If I lay the same footage on a sequence in my room (10.4) I don’t need to render. I’m in the same easy setup.Have you heard of anyone having similar problems?
Oh, and one more thing. The rooms can ETT just fine to the D5, which is definitely set up at the 1080p 23.98 frequency. (post render of course)
FCP is seeing that the source is not matching the sequence settings (it is) and then rendering to the correct settings (that it already has). -
Thanks for the quick reply. I knew that I’d get pounced on for this 🙂
[David Roth Weiss] “odds are your settings are not right.”
You would think that, but we had our technician come in to address the problem and he verified that all settings are what they should be. I’ve been working for a few years now with HD in FCP and I swear to you, settings are as they should be.
[David Roth Weiss] “What camera was used to shoot this material?”
I have no idea. This is feature film footage that we get from the major studios. They telecine to D5.
[David Roth Weiss] “Are you certain the video was shot at true 23.98 and not 24pA?”
The telecine is for sure 23.98, otherwise the d5 deck’s frequency (23.98) would conflict with the tape.
Put it this way. 2 rooms, same settings. One is running 10.4, the other 10.5.
Room 1 captures footage and has to render.
Room 2 doesn’t have to render Room 1’s footage. If Room 1 had bad (capture) settings, Room 2 would need to render. (doesn’t need to)
If Room 1 had bad (sequence) settings, Room 2 would need to render as well, but as stated before a rendered QT at sequence settings from the bad room DOES NOT require a render from the rooms that are fine. It’s like it’s going through the motions of a render rendering to the settings it’s already at (and has the item properties to back it up)Joey B

Hi Darby,
Just curious. Why would working in 16bit as opposed to 32 further reduce banding? Or is 32 just overkill?Joey B

Did you uninstall and the reinstall the driver?
-
AE will pick up on whatever codecs the system has, so have you tried getting the latest blackmagic drivers and doing a re-install. AE would then see Blackmagic Uncompressed 10-Bit, which should work.
As for your recent problems out of FCP and color I have no clue. What kind of render out of FCP? -
I would suggest rendering out of AE at the highest quality possible, then do your compression in another piece of sofware. (compressor, sorenson squeeze, visualhub…)
