Still watch out for Mac/Pc swapping.
Fonts can have different names on the different systems and make them “missing”.

    From the cs3 help:

In addition to the fonts installed on your system, After Effects uses font files in this local folder:

    Windows Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts
    Mac OS X Library/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts

Once a font is missing we seemed to be in the dark though: From Creative Cow forum:
    Q. “Is there a command or function to replace a font globally in a project?”
    A. “I don’t think this is supported yet. I can’t find any answers either.”

I did not find any solution, nor with setting a preference on substitution font, nor with replacing all instsnces of a font. I now have to browse through all layers and comps to see if there is a font that needs replaced… Or do I?

    Same problem here.

    WindowsXP.
Fresh CS3 production premium install on QT Pro 7.4.5
    (AE 8.0.2.27 “Quicktime installed”)

Cant open any .mov ( not raw, nothing AE7 opens them just fine).

    I’ve renamed all folders in
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS3\Support Files\Plug-ins\Format\MediaIO
    to names without ( )..
    So made codecs from (codecs).

It seems to work now except for large files over a network.
Same .mov on a local disk works…
