that’s a nifty little tidbit of information Apple leaves out of it’s manuals, lol…you get big props…i had been noticing that on a couple systems around the facility…thanks, I’ll check into that!

exactly what is wrong with it? I have 4 FCPs running Studio 2 on Leopard and will be testing FCP Studio 3 shortly…need to check on my applecare

this is definitely not fixed in 6.0.6. (actually i think 6.0.6 introduced it’s own reconnect issues). I have various systems…MacBook, all the way up to new Nehalem 8cores…and i’m seeing different variations of this quirk. won’t capture multiple clips in different locations…to not wanting to capture clips with different names….will capture clips in sa folder, but not the individual clips in the folder…oh yeah…and some systems seem fine….
i’m on the cusp of pushing our AVIDs aside for some of the finer points of FCP, but something like this makes me say….whoa there nelly…..

how are you monitoring the sound in FCP?

remember, Macs don’t like PC formatted drives…they will see them, but won’t write t them…use a Mac formatted drive, and MacDrive if you are working on the PC, then the drive will be fine for FCP.
We have a few Gtech drives, and aside from 1 G3 losing it’s controller board, they have been great. (the G3 was constantly spinning, which it shouldn’t have been). We have also has some good success with Maxtor One Touch drives, but for editing, I would stick with the Gtech G3, and get an eSata card to connect with. FW800 is good for just about anything, but eSata is much more gooder!

so….were the tapes shot with this camera? if not, what format were they shot in? do you have any other source to either send into the FCP, or to play the tapes on? do the tapes play back correctly in the camera? capture settings set correctly in FCP?
once you have checked and answered these questions, we could pinpoint what maybe going on.

so after my pop test, everything looks to be correct, just as I suspected. We are getting the client’s drive and we’ll see if anything appears.
the project was DVCPro 1080i 29.97, and the drive is a firewire 800 Maxtor drive. I suggested the media be moved to our local SAN, but it was not. I will move some media over and see if that corrects the issue. I’m also going to check the original source media for any softness. The media was given to us on a drive, we did not ingest any of it. maybe we can blame it on the other house….(NBC in NYC)Broadway Video, NYC

everything was SDI…i was monitoring off the Digibeta record deck and listening to the deck through our Yamaha O3D mixer…composite out of the Digi, and analog audio out to the mixer.
i’m going to to a simple pop test today to see where it may be out of sync. it very well could have been the footage.

do you do anything for the audio? downconvert we just did was off a frame consistently throughout output. do you have to offset the audio somewhere in the FCP prior to output to compensate?
