I don’t use FCP but in After effects there is an effect>stylize>leave color
function that might do what you want.

1) Who is Target audience?

>phone modem user where getting the 3min message is important and a reasonably small file for download is paramount.Often I will encode and embed Flash and will have a downloadable WMV available for slower connections.
You may want to include the Flip4Mac product to encode WMV from QTPro.
Not a complete answer but hopefully a start in the right direction.

Have you tried substituting a black pict file for the M100 black?

Sounds like a corrupt file.
Often it seems to happen with a newly imported AE file or PSD.
I had one instance a while back where I tried rerendering an ae file multiple times, only to have it cause freezes and green screens in M100. It was finally traced to a corrupt Photoshop file in the AE composition.

Are there horizontal scan lines going up the computer?
If so, you may have a shutter function on your camera that can correct it.

One way is to put all your layers into a set and duplicate the layer set into the other document.
