I have on my system the following VfW codecs:
XviD [version 1.1.0 Beta 2 build 2005-10-16] #
Required for encoding movies in the XviD format.
DivX Pro [version 5.2.1]
Required for encoding movies in the DivX format.and when I put Divx on the time line I see just the audio.
Please advise. -

How can one know whether Vegas can use certain codec (for instance DviX)

Sorry of not being clear – Yes, I meant HDV coming from HDR-HC7. Now, just to be sure I understand the answer – Is the output from the camera distorted in the horizontal direction (vs the reality)if it was recorded in HDV 16:9 format (since it was recorded with much more horizontal pixels than the output which is just 1440 pixels horizontally ?) Now another one, should I use in Vegas 7 the template named HDV 1080i (1.33) and render to it – Should I get the same horizontal pixel stretching like was coming originally from the camera ?

Does it mean that the native footage is 1920×1080 and while it is being loaded to the timeline it gets shrink to 1440×1080 (so it loses some of the pixel info) and when it is being rendered it gets blowned up back to 1920×1080 due to aspect ratio being set to 1.3333 (IE the pixel info is being just blowned up or extrapulated but the initial info was lost any how) ?

Thx. I fotage Hi-Def in 16:9 format. My Hi-Dev TV screen is 1366×768. What ratio Should I set in Vegas project properties ?
