I have had the same issue with the secretly numbered timelines, mostly with the next chapter button. With smaller or more linear projects, it’s not too difficult to create the time lines sequentially, but it does become a nightmare for more involved projects.

I know that other authoring programs, such as Reel DVD(though lacking many other useful features), allows you to actually program the next/prev chapter buttons. Hopefully version 2 will address this problem…

I had the impression that if you set the menu to “hold forever” without checking the loop box, it would hold on the menu after your background movie clip finishes playing…But I could be wrong.

  • How about just using one of the pages as a template and then duplicate it and swap out the picture? For example, take this page “https://www.erinbarry.co.uk/Portrait%20pages/lady.htm” and duplicate it. Then change the featured photo to another one and rename the page.

If I understand your problem correctly, that should take care of it.

    Thanks for the tips.
    I’ll try the secret prefs.

The final movie is under 2GB, and I have tons of space on my drive. Also, the freezing has been happening at different spots.

And just now, I was able to finish an entire render for a different sequence in the same project. Same length, but less layers and precomps.

I am using “make movie.” These are going to be motion menues for a DVD project. I tried the mpeg2-dvd render option, but the result wasn’t as good as what Cleaner could give me from an uncompressed codec.

Is there any significant difference between “animation” and “none”? Thanks!

have you thought of just dubbing to a dvd recorder deck? might save you quite a bit of time, since you’re not editing at all.

I’m about to start a company dvd demo project in Encore. It will feature a few dozen video clips, linked from several menues. Knowing the timeline numbering issue, is my only option adding a second chapter mark at the end? Any other ways around?

All the elements are exported from either Illustrator or Photoshop, no videos or prerenders…What’s the best way to post stills up here? Thanks.

    I’m taking them in uncompressed.
Should I be using a different codec other than uncompressed out of AE? I’ve also tried animation and Avid Meridian Uncompressed. Both had similar results.

Yeah, that’s what I was hoping too. But the importing didn’t make it look any different.

I’m rendering the alpha as premultiplied, because when rendered as straight, the result looked like Devil himself…and was totally unacceptable.

    The files are uncompressed QTs.
