And this footage is just fun footage, so if there is some shake in there then so be it. I will try what you suggested though! Thanks so much!

November 28, 2011 at 9:05 pm in reply to: Any harm going the “progressive” route when capturing and exporting?Ok, so once I do it lower, get it to dvd, etc. how should I render out a “master copy” if you will, say to my external drive so if I want to do editing later etc?
What is the best format to save it out as? AVI? Quicktime animation? H.264?

I haven’t thought about vhs too much either until recently my brother sent several vhs tapes to me to digitize and my current vcr is on the fritz.
I remember a vcr awhile back that had a firewire port that you plugged directly into your computer, I would like to find one of those, and am leary to buy off ebay for fear of it just being junk.
Oh what to do lol.

January 27, 2011 at 10:22 pm in reply to: error message in AE CS5 when trying to point missing file to new paththere are folders with bullet point things in front of the name, etc.
What I did do was copied one of the png’s to my desktop and tried pointing the missing file to that and it found it.
So my question to you guys is…
Do I just start creating my own file structure, like create a folder called PNG and search the drive for all PNGs and dump them there…then a folder for PSDs, MOVs, etc?
Now on a coworkers mac he can open these fine (grrr). I read somewhere that the person with a working version can go to File, Collect Files and collect files all in one place or something? I have never used this feature, so I am not sure if something like this would work?

I have tried running it off the external drive initially, and was getting that error message, so I figured “Why not copy the millions of gigs of footage locally?!” And I am getting the same error message.
HELP!

thanks for the pointers guys…I will definately check this out. I thought since after effects had “some” audio features, that I could use those. I do have soundbooth, I have just never really used it!

Dave,
Thanks for your quick response! That is good info to know. And the “milky” look I am talking about is just its overall “dull” appearance that this footage has due to time and deteriation.
I guess I will try the Adobe Media Encoder since i have that. (I am on a PC)
So from After Effects, should I just render out as an uncompressed avi, then bring it into Adobe Media Encoder?
