Have you tried setting it to autorun Windows Media Player?

You could strip the streams out with DVD Decrypter or another app, but I believe the subtitles are a bitmap stream (you wouldn’t be able to edit them), but I am not positive of that.

Encore cannot export subtitles (except via burning to DVD).

Try using fewer characters per subtitle- split them up if necessary- and see if that helps.

You can change which timeline will be VTS_01. Do this by making it the Main Timeline in Disc properties.

In the DVD-Video format, only one audio track can play at a time- whether it’s mono, stereo, or surround.
You can do what you want by pre-mixing your audio tracks for the desired effect, and then adding a separate audio clip to each track. But the user cannot interactively select audio and have it added on top of another track as you are describing- only one audio track at a time can be played by a DVD player.

I think Lemony or Subtitle Workshop can also create SCC files from scratch- Scenarist is not strictly required.
Otherwise, I agree- closed captions and subtitles, although similar, are two different things.

I can’t think of anything that might be causing it to happen (not that there is not a cause for it).
You can do some of this with timelines, but if it must have subtitles, it’s going to be a lot of work (each subtitle will have to be typed in manually). There’s no manual advance on timelines, so you’d have to lose that as well if you decide to go that route.
Is the need for subtitles more important than getting an otherwise working DVD out as soon as possible? Sounds as if that’s a question you need to consider.

If you disable the subtitles in the Slideshow properties, does the problem still occur?
