Not in Encore.
Create a new clip by importing your video and audio into Premiere, and then loop the video there so the video and audio duration match. Export this clip from Premiere, and then use it as your video/audio background for your motion menu in Encore.

Look in your Library panel…there is a blank menu there.

16-18 px is the minimum recommendation for readability on an interlaced monitor.
I haven’t followed the entire thread, but have you tried manually creating the subpicture layer from within Encore?

It is not possible to convert a video file to a menu.
In Encore, menus are Photoshop PSD files. Encore includes PSD menu files in its Library that get imported automatically when you choose New Menu. You make a motion menu by setting the video background of the menu to your video file.

Menus cannot exceed 1 GB on any DVD. Your motion menus are too large.

Return to Last Menu doesn’t offer the ability to return to the loop point.
Instead, specify the exact motion menu, then in Specify Link click the “Set to Loop Point” checkbox.

That information should be available in the help. I don’t know how much detail it goes into regarding your error, though (probably none).

Warren has used Compressor successfully with Encore in Blu-ray. Warren, can you share some more information on this?

I thought that generally a transport stream had a video as well as audio stream? If the stream is video-only, I wouldn’t expect Encore to try to re-encode it as long as the frame size, frame rate, and bit rate are Blu-ray legal.
I think that’s key to why Encore might be trying to re-encode the transport stream – it’s trying to transcode the audio within the transport stream.

There is a bit rate limitation on subtitle overlay tracks, and there is also a maximum number of bits per frame.
I don’t recall the numbers, though…and it would be next to impossible to assign those limitations to the maximum number of characters, as it would be different for different fonts, font styles, point sizes, etc.
