    Ray.

Thanks for the post but I am still not able to write a file to the disc. Driver ver. 2.21 and firmware ver 2.420. I tried to write a mov file (1.2 gigs) to the disc as a test and I kept getting an error message “Destination drive is full” I was copying and pasting in the general tab then the sony tab and finally the planning tab. The disk was formatted by the drive using the PDW-U1 utility app.

What do you think I am doing wrong?

Thnaks agin for your time and insite!!!

    Thank you for the reply!

I was able to write a file to the general clip folder, but Sony was touting the fact that this could be 23Gbish (for single sided XDcam discs) storage device. So far all I can manage is 499MB. So the Question is still on the table. Will the every be a mass storage device for OTHER THAN XDCAM (EX 1,3) Files?

Its not that easy. Hugh files!! Need lots and lots of bandwith for the upload and no to mention the download.

No easy way to send the TC to match. Johnny makes a good suggestion for work flow using Broadcast Wave files. TC will match field tapes.

But if the client is hell bent then you need to make sure that you send a TC window downconvert to the editor. Using the mon out of the Varicam with characters on will show the TC burn in with out any extra Boxes. You will still need a down convert box to convert the HDSDI to either SDI or Composite video.

Another way to do this is to have the TC on one of the Audio chanels and the mix on the other. AVid can handle the TC on an Audio Track and All is good for the EDL. AGAIN HUGH FILES!!!!

So you better have a very fast DSL or something faster for the upload, if not someone is going to be online for hours!

    Fed EX much eaiser
