You could do a screen grab of the article, save it as a jpg or png, and bring it into Premiere. You will not be able to zoom in on it very much as it will be just 72dpi.

It might be best to recreate the article in Photoshop. Copy and paste the text from the article into a new Photoshop document that is twice the height of your video frame, that way you can do a keyframed move down the page.

If it is yellow then it is the Ripple Edit Tool and there may be something interfering with the ripple. Choose the Selection Tool (Arrow) and hover over the head of the clip, the trim indicator should be red and should function as you expect.

I use a mouse with a scroll wheel. When the cursor is in the right-hand track identifier column, V1 V2 A1 A2 etc, if you roll the wheel the current track you are hovering over will react by expanding or contracting. Not a keyboard shortcut, but faster than clicking and dragging the bars.

Make sure all the drives you want in Premiere are mounted on the Mac. In the finder window, click and highlight each drive you want individually. The eject icon that appears to the right of the name will let you know that it is mounted. Then it should show up in Premiere.

When Apple went from FCP7 to FCPX we looked at X and decided it was not for us. We didn’t want to start over with an immature software. We needed to continue working as we were and continue progressing with improvements to workflow, not stepping backwards. The transition from FCP7 to PP-CC2014 was as smooth as could be expected. It was just as mature as FCP7 and has progressed very nicely since then. Premiere does have its quirks and work-arounds, like FCP7 did, but we feel it is the best move we could have made faced with the demise of FCP.
We use desktop MacPros so I can’t comment on laptop choices. Our next upgrade will be to the 5K iMacs.

If the pop is at the beginning of a clip, add a 3 frame fade at the head of the audio track.

Look in the
Users > (user) > Documents > Adobe > Adobe Media Encoder > 8.0 > Presets
copy from the 8.0 folder and paste into the newest folder presets.
