  • Yes I have checked the field order. It doesn’t look like a field order problem. It is many lines at once tearing together. It looks like an encoding problem.

  • No, I am watch a monitor fed from a DVD set-top player. This is a new problem. We have been using this method for a year or more.

I have owned both. If you have a well equipped PC and you are pleased with the work you are doing there is no reason to switch. You would need to buy a top of the line MAC and the application software. But if one day you plan to work in the industry somewhere, your FCP skills may help get you a job. Also with FCP you can have access to Motion, Livetype and DVD studio which are all great apps. I have been using FCP for the past 3 years and I would not go back to Premier Pro.

I do not believe you can use a 2nd internal drive with FCP. I have tried a Hitachi 400gig and a Maxtor 250gig. Both drop frames. My system is a dual 2.0 with 1.5gig ram and Tiger OS. No One has reported to me that this can work.

No, I have done speed tests on the drive and it is plenty fast. I’m only editing DV. This drive can move the data. The problem is performance using FCP. I guess I don’t have it set up properly or something. I would like to hear from someone who is using a second SATA drive for media successfully. BTW, I also tried this using a Hitachi 400 drive and had the same results in FCP.

They are probably not fully rendered.
Go to the render setting and select all of the render options for video. Even the green ones. Render all video and it will be smooth.

  • How is the upgrade handled? Do you give proof of ownership when you purchase? Is there an upgrade version and a full version?
