We were trying to do just what you suggest and the G5 showed the G4 as a drive but when we click on it we get an eternal beachball.

That page is no longer there. But, your answer is if I own AE 6.5 I will need to purchase an update before I can run it on a new G5 quad?

So why is there a new Universal version of Final Cut Studio?

True and we used these regularly with our BetaCam but I find the results too warm with the HVX200.

We are shooting DVCpro50 and editing with FCP5. Then distribute on Beta SP using Decklink SP. The results are OK but I would like better. We will be getting a Kona LH to try the HD settings.

No it only has a “capture” window with no choice of audio, video or other. I can’t tell if you can capture audio only or video only?

We have shot a few spots with the new HVX200. Since the footage must be distributed on BetaSP we opted to shoot DVCPRO50 24p. Results are nice. The camera requires a good bit of light. It’s a bit noisier that I would like. You must be very careful with exposure. Making setup adjustments helps but it is time consuming on a shoot and you must have a good field monitor. People shots are very pleasing because the colors are great!

The DVCPRO50 recordings look fine except for lots of alias on clothing, bricks, diagonal lines, etc. Lowering detail to -5 helps. But of course you begin to loose sharpness.

Others have suggested that I do not have the proper hardware to downconvert the DVCPROHD recordings. Yhey are noisy, soft and loaded with alias artifacts. BTW, I get the same result with DVCPROHD recordings from the Varicam. As I said the DVCPROHD recordings look great on the FCP Cinema screen so I know the camers makes a great picture.

Thank you for your response. I will continue to research my hardware needs.
