They do have to be the current versions, no FCP2, Motion, and DSP2. You need FCP4.5, Motion and DSP3.

    Right.

But, the REAL DEAL is that you can upgrade to Final Cut Studio from ANY version of FCP for just $200 more than the $499 price going from either the Production Suite or the current versions of the three apps.

A very cheap way many to jump into everything big time.

How is the upgrade handled? Do you give proof of ownership when you purchase? Is there an upgrade version and a full version?

    Hi,

I assume its the same as the Production Suite Upgrade from FCP. The only thing required was the previous serial number.

BTW this company offers a small discount and no sales tax:

I believe all that’s necessary is FCP version whatever be installed and ‘serialized’ (verifies the app is legit and registered with Apple?) on your machine.

    “Select your product:
    Final Cut Studio $1,299.00
Final Cut Studio – Upgrade from Production Suite $499.00
    >>>Final Cut Studio – Upgrade from Final Cut Pro $699.00”

“How is the upgrade handled? Do you give proof of ownership when you purchase? Is there an upgrade version and a full version?”

It will probably be like the existing upgrades: when you install it, you will need to type in the serial number that comes with the upgrade. When it verifies this serial number, it knows from this serial number that this is an upgrade, and if it is it will then ask for your serial number from your previous installation. If you try to give it an invalid number, or FCP version which did not qualify for the upgrade, your old serial number will not be accepted and your upgrade will not work.

So, you will be able to buy the upgrade even if you don’t qualify for it, but you won’t be able to install this upgrade successfully.
