P.S.: You mention getting 24fps footage, then working in 23.976p. That sounds wrong, unless your source is actually 23.976fps.
A lot of people west of the Atlantic – including mfg’s – seem to have forgotten that there actually is such a thing as 24.000fps acquisition (and post). It’s important to acknowledge and state the difference when talking frame rates.
If your footage IS in fact 24.000fps, you would be better off bringing it into a 1080/24.000p project.

Hi, there’s an important thing to know: Center Duration is based on whatever TC you are tracking in the top line above the Record monitor.

For 23.976p projects, timecode is, and should normally be TC24 (there is no 24DF timecode standard in the world today). This means that the timecode will not match real “earth time”.

A workaround for that is to switch your Master timecode from TC1 or TC24 to 30DF, since Avid allows you to track most any form of timecode standard. This would mean you do get an actual earth time center duration.

Reading your issue with being a few frames off, you might have the Master TC above the record monitor set to something else. Switching it to TC24 should at least give you a center duration that matches that TC counter.

The whole system will run notably faster on a 7200rpm drive. Stuff like creating bins, copying files, etc.

Remove any Marks In and Out. Select all tracks. In the EQ tool, from its hamburger menu, choose “Remove EQ on selected tracks global” (not the best English grammar, I agree). The same is available in the Audio Mixer in Clip and Auto, and in the AudioSuite tool.

If your editor has made these subtitles using the SubCap effect, it’s as simple as opening Effects Mode for one of the subtitles, choose Caption Files -> Export Caption Data, and you can export a .txt or an. STL (EBU19) file. Takes no more than five seconds.

You may need some software to convert to .SRT if that’s what you require. Probably Belle Nuit’s SubTitler would do a great job on that conversion (there’s a trial version that will allow you to make sure it works for you).

1. That should not be happening, but again, if there’s audio involved, it won’t work.

2. Not sure if they fixed it in 6.5, but in 6.0 this was indeed a problem. The clip itself has timecode and duration, slowing the content down means that only part of the actual footage shows up.

3. Not sure if that allows stretching beyond the clip’s end. Should look no different than 2, as a frame is a frame is a frame.

All of them will work, although the first requires the source clip has no audio. Method 1 and 2 also only apply to QT files, AFAIK. The third method has a downside, which is that you will need to set the speed for each timeline segment, whereas the other methods will give you slowed down source clips to work with.

What are your audio output settings set to? Last time I exported to Op1A MXF, I was set to Direct Out, and all my audio tracks (1-8) were mapped to the separate audiotracks of the MXF.
