Great suggestion, sounded like it was going to work, but failed. The message was “Repair Failed.” I suggested the producer go to data recovery specialist or at least copy the whole card rather than just the visible media.

I just wonder what the problem was. Bad card? Writing glitch?

Actually, those gizmos look great in DV quality, and with the HVX(and those HDV cameras) it will look even better.

By “great,” I don’t mean to my eye, but I mean to 98% of viewers on 98% of TVs and ALL current delivery formats short of theatrical release(in which case, I’m guessing it looks “alright”).

I’m assuming that audio is included in that bit stream since it is the same rate for tape.

Neither meta data, nor thumbnails make up any significant space, especially not 25% of the disc.

Also, I’ve calculated the same data rates for all possible recording formats the HVX provides for and those match up to my (mis)calculation.

All good suggestions, I think Mike hit it on the head for this one, the software is the problem, but I will adjust my workflow as per Shane’s suggestion. Thanks.

Although I would prefer if the clips acted independently(sometimes).

—Any solutions to the issue of not being able to adjust the clip speed under certain circumstances?—

A Two Pass system is the only way to go. I’m trying to help this guy upgrade from iMovie, which doesn’t require anything complex. Is FCX stupid or something?
