Thanks very much John, I know several ways to do this, but I thought autoselect was made for this sole purpose. It`s kind of redundant, if you ask me.

It`s not? So, how do I keyboard-select an edit point on certain tracks without selecting nearby points of other tracks? Is locking my only option?

Steven, I meant using mouse as in dragging from source monitor to Browser. That`s the way Premiere does it and I think it makes sense. You can drag this to whatever bin you have, whereas in FCP, subclip is always created in root level of folders. It`s just a tiny detail of course, but editing app makers should really copy more from each other 🙂

No I`m not making subclips from timeline 🙂 What I meant was a completely different issue – having got to press Q every frikkin time I make an edit to timeline from source monitor.

I know, that`s the classic answer to everything (no offense of course 🙂 It`s just that the Premiere way makes a lot of sense. I also hate being forced to switch from timeline back to source every time I make an edit. Oh well, no editing app is perfect.

On a slightly unrelated note, I have tried PPro CS4 under Vista 64 today and am flabbergasted as to how much better it is under it compared to XP 32bÃt. The thing crawled with XP, but with Vista x64, it flies (with the same hardware)! The same goes for After Effects CS4 – the project that took over 40 secs on XP (a very clean HP workstation) opens within 15 secs with Vista. This goes to all the naysayers. Vista is mature after its three year run.

Well, FCP has its own codecs for a couple of years now, first Apple Intermediate Codec and now ProRes. It’s Premiere who hasn’t any intermediate codec. But you’re right that Premiere can import more file formats than FCP.

Brandon, do you plan on CCing in Color or FCP itself?
