Challenging Question…
So we have edited a spot on Avid, the footage was a film to tape transfer digitized from digi-beta, NTSC 29.97. We exported an AAF file to send the project to Final Cut to color correction. Final Cut apparently needs to remove the pulldown to properly work with the telecine footage. We can apply a reverse telecine conversion but we end up with 23.98 clips and our timeline will not conform.
So how can we get around this? We can remove the pulldown in Avid and cut that way, but our resulting sequence will point to 23.98 footage that we can’t re-capture in Final Cut sine its really 29/97 footage.
Any brilliant ideas?

Add 2:3 to the file from FCP before going back to Media Composer?

Were not going back to MC, finishing in FCP. Need some kind of auto conform workflow to re-capture these clips in FCP. I don’t think it’s possible but there should be a way to convert the EDL to remove pulldown.

If you are working in a 29.97 matchback project, you can create 23.976 EDL’s very easily.
