Do you have Smart Zoom unchecked in OSX System Preferences/Mouse? Double tap the mouse when on and it zooms otherwise. Drive me nuts. Also have Scroll direction natural turned off to get normal behavior.

It ail be quite a while before news is done in 4K, or anything else in my opinion, and that works very well in FCPX now.

The potential problem, of course, comes when you need a new computer and it comes pre-loaded with Yosemite and might not (probably won’t) run a previous OS.

May 30, 2014 at 5:17 pm in reply to: A negative about CC frequent updates

It would seem the customer has a requirement to maintain their subscription because they are locked into a rental model with no real way out. No or little backward compatibility. That would sort of ratchet down the pressure on Adobe over time, one would think. One of the reasons this is being discussed on a FCP X forum. People are evaluating other options.

  • I could see this as a major, if not THE major market for Teranex. I’ve just begun the process of testing the Teranex workflow for just the same reasons. I have historic documentary, commercial, and art footage running from 3/4″ and Betacam, to mini-DV, DVCPro SD, and H264 DSLR was well as Sony XDCam HD. So far it looks very promising. A lot of my final edits will go to the web, YouTube, etc, or educational uses which I would imagine would be networked mass storage based. They tapes aren’t getting any younger, and neither am I. Much of this stuff really deserves editing.

Would like to hear more. Message me email.

Right, it is the AVX support that is key. My 2011 Macbook Pro 17″ is faster than my Hexacore 2012 Mac Pro. But both are way slower than the Mac Pro 2013 Hexacore.

But not Sony XDcam EX, unfortunately. Correct? It can select ranges on import with Sony transcoding software, but you will end up with much larger ProRes files.

I’m still using Media 100 latest version, but I doubt they have interest in stepping up to that plate. Works quite well, still 32 bit. I’m going FCPX and waiting to see if BlackMagic can pull it off with Resolve. Anything but disgraced (in my opinion) Adobe.
