Sure this is a little late but…

Did you happen to install PPro via an admin account, but do all your work from within a user account?
I have noticed some strange permissions things with CS6 (mostly running the updates), and thought that maybe this could be your problem – the Project Manager is not working for me either (CS6)

    Just a thought.

  • Huh.
Yeah, every time I post it says I’m being monitored for “possibly breaking the rules” or some other similar reason.

Oh well. Thanks for the replies guys. Guess I’ll sleep well tonight 😀

Well, I think I pulled it off ok using another method.

Here’s what I ended up doing:

    – pulled a key on the windows
    – blurred the qualifier
    – shrunk it for some light wrap
    – applied blur to the selection
    – then I pumped the gain
    – adjusted the soft clip a bit

Seemed to work, but I’d love to know a tried and true method – usually I go the long way around : )

Anyone know if there are any plans to include SpeedGrade in the AJA Kona3 future?
Sent an email to support; waiting for a reply.

As it stands, CS6, FCP3, under Lion with a Kona3 yields no analog monitoring ability for color grading as follows:

SpeedGrade – SDI out only so far ( forever? via graphics cards only? )
Apple Color – external monitoring broken under Lion
DaVinci Resolve – unsupported by AJA

This leaves me with a brand new 12-core workstation with no grading monitoring ability : (
I’m not even sure if upgrading my monitor engine to the SDI module would work for SpeedGrade.
Apple Color wasn’t supposed to break – in fact, the ProApps tech support guy said that it was the first he’d heard of it.

    Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

My thought about these Car spots has been that they actually shot the talent walking backwards. This would be similar to the crypt scene in Coppola’s Dracula where they had the vampire girl walk backwards up the stairs and then ran it in reverse – same creepy results – less plug in.

You know…this approach doesn’t neccessarily work if you’re doing a camera move with AE 3D layers + lights. Because you’re continuously adjusting the INV layer to correspond with the camera’s position (to not break the 3D illusion) the INV layer’s (as an AE 3D layer) position gets disoriented with the other AE 3D layers and begins to throw odd shadows that wouldn’t be expected from the AE Lights.

    Has anyone solved this?

🙁 I was afraid that would be the case.
    Thanks for the quick reply.
