Robin, thank you so much for trying to help. I think I figured it out.
At the very beginning of the timeline there seems to be a range selector.
When I pull the right cursor out to make a range, the timeline plays from zero.
I can’t wait to learn this program!

At 0, the timeline won’t play, but at frame 1 it plays… 😛
I also uploaded a screenshot, but I don’t know where it is.

It was this very problem that led me to give up on Media 100. Actually, the more I work in Final Cut Pro, the more I realize exactly how deficient Media 100 is. Good grief, even simple DISSOLVES TO BLACK had glitches in them (sudden squishing of about two pixels). Sometimes I even had to record to tape and re-digitize just to get a piece out of Media 100. Am I going to PAY for support on these simple issues, NO!
I actually don’t care what people on this forum think about me. Over the years I have spent thousands of dollars on Media 100 and Boris FX, and I get a sick feeling in my stomach every-time I call over there to even UPGRADE.
No more!

Instead of puttzing around with Media 100 anything, move on to Final Cut Pro and save yourself anymore grief.
Final Cut Pro simply works! Not only is the program quite awesome, but it works seamlessly with the entire Adobe suite of programs.
Every time I revert to Media 100 because of some insane belief that it will excel at something, I am bitterly disappointed. A perfect example was a little while ago when I created a montage using slow motion and various effects. When I exported it, the slow motion was missing (although rendered) and the audio effects were missing, too.
It is also a blessing never having to deal with the people at BorisFX ever again.

I have the P6000 board with DV option + the realtime effects & sdi option board + all the breakout boxes and software so you can run it. I even have a Magma PCI expander box so you can run Media 100i on G5 with regular PCI slots.
Please make an offer.

April 20, 2007 at 3:29 pm in reply to: There’s too much to fix before you can take Media 100 seriously.I get angry when the BASICS of PRODUCER just don’t work.
DIGITIZING is a BASIC function, and you would think that a timecode break would STOP the deck and signal an error message.
When mastering a tape, setting the deck to 59:00:00 is an option that doesn’t work.
FOR YEARS, I exported from Media 100 to After Effects and the results were fabulous… Now you can’t do that and I used different codecs. Obviously the explanation from Media 100 was spurious because you can export from FCP and that’s using the DV codec.
SO, BEFORE YOU MAKE MEAT PIE OUT OF ME TO FEED TO TAMORA, PUT YOURSELF IN MY SHOES. I AM GETTING A LOT OF MONEY FROM MY CLIENTS AND ALL THE GREAT STUFF THAT WORKED ON MY XR, DOESN’T WORK IN PRODUCER. I EVEN TRIED TO RAISE THE GAIN OVER A SPAN OF A FEW AUDIO CLIPS (LIKE IT SAYS YOU CAN DO IN THE MANUAL) AND IT’S DIDN’T WORK.

With a new version of FCP coming out, and with Apple buying FINAL TOUCH and about to incorporate SHAKE into FCP, why would anybody in their right mind not stay with Final Cut?

Hi Chris,
I’m very bad at pricing… What do you think is fair? I also have the Magma Extension Chasis for a G5 (regular PCI slot) if you’re interested.
