My guess is that because the animation is on Align to Spline tags the Step effector is not able to function as it would with animations at the object level. And that’s just a convoluted way to say I don’t know why it doesn’t work. Someone else may know a way around that but I couldn’t find one. Here’s an alternative solution using cloners in “Object” mode with circle splines. If it’s the effect you want, and you can’t follow how I set up the project, just let me know and I can provide more info.

If I understand what you’re after — to displace the cubes vertically according to the text in the movie — set the texture tag’s Projection to “Flat,” and then in Texture Mode rotate the texture -90 degrees in pitch. Below is an image of my result with a 60×60 grid of clones for more detail. Hope this helps.

(Edit: whoops… I didn’t see Steve’s last post until I posted mine. But we both have the same response essentially.)

I’m sorry, but it’s not clear what you’ve done so far. If you provide some more details about your workflow someone will probably be able to help.

Use a wide angle lens. Here’s a tutorial that should help:

Have you tried Mesh > Spline > Soft Interpolation?

Ok, I finally found it. You have multiple takes, and when your project is opened the “mixamo.com” take is selected. If you select the “Main” take you will be able to edit all of the Attributes parameters. I haven’t used the Takes system before so the details of it are beyond my knowledge, but since you are obviously using it hopefully you’re more familiar with it.

(edit: adding a take locks the current settings but which can be overridden with the context menu as I described in the previous response.)

I discovered that if you rt-click on an attribute that is greyed-out in your project (Hair Object>Hairs>Count, for example) and select “Override,” that parameter will then be editable. I have yet to find what setting is being overridden however. In my projects, both “Override” and “Remove Override” are greyed-out, so I don’t know what setting is altered in your project. Perhaps someone else will have some more info. You might just try quitting and restarting C4D.

    Hi,

I opened your project and see exactly what you are seeing. It’s not just the hair attributes that are greyed-out, though, but all the other objects as well. Why?… I don’t know. I copied all the objects and pasted them into a new project and that seemed to fix it. Perhaps your project file got corrupted somehow. If copying and pasting doesn’t work, try the project file below which I saved from the new one I created.

Good work Brian. What were the steps you took to create that platonic?

    Thanks
