    Elena,

I am sorry for any misunderstanding, but I wasn’t doubting your understanding of deactivating the Fracture object. I was simply asking for a fuller description of what you saw happening. As I said, your project works fine for me, so there must be some other issue. Since several days have passed since you first ran into this issue I can assume that you have not only closed and reopened the project, but have rebooted your computer; both of which might have solved the problem. If no one else offers help here, perhaps a call to Maxon is in order.

I’m sorry that I could not have been more helpful.

    Good luck.

Just in case I wasn’t clear, what I was referring to concerning updating the Fracture object was simply deactivating it and reactivating it. If all the objects disappear in the View window when you changed the mode to “Explode Segments,” what happens when you cycle the Fracture object off and on?

    Elena,

I opened your C4D project file and it seemed to work fine. It opened with the Fracture object deactivated, but when I activated it none of its children (the Extrude NURBS and the Connect object with a Spline) disappeared. And changing the mode caused no problems either. Perhaps you just saw an issue with the Fracture object temporarily needing to update itself as occurs in the tutorial around 17:36.

Here’s the object menu as it appears in the file you sent. What exactly disappeared when you changed the mode to Explode Segments?

Post a link to the tutorial, as well as your project file, and I would be glad to see if I can recognize the problem you’re having.

April 7, 2016 at 3:20 pm in reply to: is it possible to render a project in bits

In the Output menu of the Render Settings you can choose whatever range of frames you want to render (0-500, 501-1000, etc.) But, as you’re already aware, if you render your project in sections you will end up with multiple videos and will need to merge them together in a video editor program. Cinema 4D has no capability to do that itself.

If you’re having problems with rendering a specific project (especially if it’s a long render) it’s always a good idea to render image sequences (separate image files in a folder) rather than quicktime movies, just in case of crashes that will ruin the entire movie file and force you to start over, but you will still need to assemble the image files into a movie in a video editor program.

That was answer number two above. Choose the display options you would like in the Display menu of the View window.

It would be nice to know if my suggestion worked or if you found another solution.

If you just want to see the polygons that make up your objects while you are modeling, select one of the options under the Display menu in the View window that include “Lines.”

If you want something else, please provide a more descriptive question or an example image.

If you just want to render the grid of polygons that make up your objects the quickest way is to use the Standard renderer and add the Cel Renderer effect. In the effects “Basic Properties” select Edges and choose the Edge and Background colors.

    Here’s an example:

If you want to render a full wireframe image, check out this tutorial:
