It works fine for me in R18 (I’m on a Mac). If you want to post your project file I will test it for you.

    Great.

  • The reason you can’t find tutorials on compositing green screen footage with 3D objects in C4D is because that is not how it is done. Very simply, AE is a compositing program and C4D is not. The tutorial you referenced was showing how AE was used to composite green screen footage with other background footage. To combine your piano player footage with a piano created in C4D you would export your piano from C4D into AE using Cineware and composite there… not the other way around.

In rereading the title of your post I’m guessing that “I can’t see them” means you can’t find them. Because Riptide Pro is a set of multiple import and export plugins the folder will appear at the top of your Plugins menu and not in the long (if you have a lot of plugins) list of individual plugins below that. It can be easy to overlook those at the top when you are expecting to find them alphabetically below.

To see if it installed correctly, in the main C4D menu go to Help>Personalize and see if it appears in the Registration menu along with its serial number and “OK” next to it.

Also, do a search (Shift-C) and enter .obj and see if the Riptide Pro obj import and export plugins come up. If they do it would mean that you are probably overlooking them in the Plugins menu.

I just installed the demo version (I put it in Preferences>Maxon>Cinema 4D R18>Plugins) and it seems to work fine importing an obj file. When you say “it doesn’t work,” do you mean the installation doesn’t work? Or you can’t find the plugin after installation? Or the plugin won’t import or export files?

I don’t know which version of the plugin you have, but using NitroBlast2 this is how I changed the interior material of a sphere which has had the plugin applied.

    1) Select the texture tag in the Objects menu for the inside material. (It’s the material labelled “Style_Default IN” in the Materials Manager, and for which the tag will show “X-IN_Selection” in the Selection window of the tag’s properties.)

    2) Drag your new material from the Materials Manager into the Material window of the tag’s properties.

In my example below I added a new material – “redrover” – and dragged that into the tag’s Material properties window.

    Hope this helps.

You are very welcome. I have received a lot of help in this forum and others, so if I can ever give back a little I’m glad to do it.

    Cheer to you too.

    Glad to help.

The shading color is controlled by the Sketch and Toon render settings.

Post a simple project file (just the cube, material, and light) that has the issue and let me see if I get the same result.

    From the help file:

“The Physical Renderer bears a number of disadvantages. For example, it does not work in conjunction with Sketch and Toon, the Cartoon Renderer post effect, Specular lights, cylindrical lens (and other post effects displayed in the selection menu); motion blur does not work in conjunction with several special elements such as PyroCluster, visible lights, object glow; furthermore, hair is rendered much slower, hair Multi-Passes cannot be rendered; finally, no hard shadows can be rendered (Area shadows will be rendered instead).”
